Salmon Fishing

The Spring Salmon fishing on the upper Rogue River usually starts in the middle of May and the run last until the end of July.
The Fall Salmon run starts in August at the mouth of the Rogue at Gold Beach and runs through October.

There is also good Fall Salmon runs on the Elk and Sixes Rivers near Port Orford in November and December.

Steelhead Fishing

Steelhead fishing starts in January on the South Umpqua River and the run last until the end of March. The Steelhead on the Umpqua average 10 to 12 pounds and the largest I have landed is 22 pounds caught last winter. On the Umpqua you are only allowed to keep hatchery Steelhead, this winter 50 percent of the Steelhead caught have been hatchery.
Steelhead fishing starts on the Middle Rogue River at the beginning of February. The Steelhead reach the Upper Rogue River at the end of February and the run last tell the middle of April.

The Summer run of Steelhead starts on the Upper Rogue in August and the run ends in the middle of November
